8 Weeks and Counting

Our beautiful home that we had to leave in Fort Wayne, Indiana has now been on the market for eight weeks. It is sitting there empty, and lonely. My $12,000 worth of landscaping is probably growing wild. We occasionally hear something from our Century21 realtor, but there really hasn't been much to report. Shortly after our house went on the market, we followed the Catholic tradition of burying a statue of St. Joseph in our yard. My husband is Catholic, so I figured it couldn't hurt. Poor St. Joseph, stuck down in the earth must really be struggling with this real estate market. I have been saying prayers, but nothing has happened yet. All of the newspaper articles and news talk shows seem to be making things worse by painting such a dismal picture of real estate and mortgage lenders. It is all very discouraging. Hopefully, someone will take a look at our house and fall in love with it. All it takes is one buyer. Come on St. Joseph, help us out a little!

Unfortunately LaundryMom- dismal as it seems

that is what it is, dismal. If the media doesn't get anything else right, they have this one right.
The market is in a really bad state right now, and honestly, I rent and have done so all of my adult life, and I can say that I am not even interested in buying at this point. I really would love to own a home, however, I know I am not in a great state to do so financially, so I am not even going to try.
A lot of the foreclosures, according to an interview on 60 minutes said that the majority of people who got financed, should never have qualified in the first place. The interest is awful for those who don't have great credit, or no credit, or workable credit.
Even those with squeaky clean credit are suffering some. My hubby is a plumber and does HVAC work and he has heard at least 4 or 5 times in the last year that people are putting their houses up for sale only to go back to renting.
