31,000 US scientists reject global warming...

More than 31,000 scientists across the United States, including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields including atmospheric science, climatology, Earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties, have signed a petition rejecting "global warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate.

"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate," the petition states. "Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

The Petition Project actually was launched nearly 10 years ago, when the first few thousand signatures were assembled. Then between 1999 and 2007, the list of signatures grew gradually without any special effort or campaign.

LOL!!! Hutts, you can find quackpots in every

walk of life, including the scientific community. Heck, this weekend I watched a former NASSA consultant spout some nonsense about the Apollo mission finding a robot's head on the Moon, showing pictures of a rock and claiming that it was the head.

These guys need to look at the actual evidence - carbon loads in polar ice, in particular - and the mere fact that the polar ice is actually melting far more than normal and is not freezing back - we have lots miles and miles of ice shelving in the past 5 years. Just because we are not seeing seriously significant changes in weather patterns on the continents doesn't mean it's not coming.

Yes, an increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can and has produced benefits (at least for plants, that I'm aware of) but there's a limit to the amount that is beneficial and we have passed that limit.

Did I really say "quackpots?"

Yes PW your Quackpot moments!!!

That's what I shall now call them:)

Now why would all these scientists

http://bloggerparty.com/blog/sassys

say this stuff? It's one thing to say it's not causing any harm and that the earth is doing it's natural cycle...it's quite another for them to just flat out deny it. I believe it's both environmentally natural and it's also being "Sped up" by us. So it's a bit of both...we do need to stop "helping" the earth do its purging.

Well, just because you can be called a scientist

does not mean that you really know what you are talking about. Just look at all the crackpot lawyers out there that don't know what they are talking about even though they've actually passed the bar exam. Or politicians! And just because you are considered a scientist in one field does not mean you know everything - or even anything - about another field. I certainly wouldn't take a rocket scientist's word for environmental issues because his field would be rockets, not the environment.

Well said PW

I actually really do know a "rocket scientist" and he's a great guy but he can't find his own glasses when they are on his head!

Well I suppose it could all be...

It is really nice

to hear of scientists that can still voice fact and reason against the tide of political correctness. Nice post!

Thanks...

it brings a balance to the debate, whether we are in favour or not.

I guess we'll know,...

in another 20 years, when there's little drinkable water around the world, more terrible storms and the like, and drastic food shortages. Sigh,...

Reviews of Everything, reviews and opinions of, well, almost anything!

There has to be a debate...

but the down under governments have policies, although NZ has delayed its policies because of politics and an election this year.
