2 of the NFL's Newest Teams To Meet In NFC Final

This coming Sunday, 2 of the 6 most recently added NFL teams will meet in the NFC final game, as Carolina will play at Seattle. Seattle was part of the NFL expansion of 1976 that expanded the league from 26 teams to 28 teams (Tampa Bay was the other team added that year). Carolina was added in the mid-1990's as the NFL expanded from 28 to 30 teams (Jacksonville) was the other team in that round of expansion. Only 6 new franchises have been added to the NFL in the last 30 years, so the odds of two of them meeting in a conference final game is very slim....the chance of 2 of them meeting in a Super Bowl even much slimmer. Unfortunately for Carolina, they will have no chance at Seattle this weekend. Carolina will be missing their top 2 running backs: Stephen Davis and Deshaun Foster. Remaining running back Nick Goings has played valiantly the last couple seasons but just isn't enough to represent a "ground attack" on his own. Add the fact that the Seattle stadium has become one of the loudest and most difficult to play in for visiting teams, and it spells the following final score:

Seattle 34 Carolina 6
